Carrier Sales Representative

Lightning Logistics | Fully Remote | Salary + Commission

Lightning Logistics is hiring a Carrier Sales Representative with at least one year of carrier sales experience . This is a fully remote role offering a base salary plus commission .

We’re looking for someone who knows how to negotiate rates, work the DAT load board, and find the right equipment for each shipment—and who can turn a first-time carrier into a reliable, repeat partner.

What You’ll Do

• Source, negotiate with, and book carriers while protecting margins and service quality.
• Post and manage loads on DAT , respond to inquiries, and proactively reach out to carriers.
• Negotiate rates using market conditions, lane knowledge, and equipment availability.
• Match loads with the appropriate trailer type and confirm equipment meets shipment requirements.
• Build strong carrier relationships and develop a dependable network of repeat carriers for lanes we run frequently .
• Learn carriers’ preferred lanes, capacity, and schedules to create consistent opportunities to work together.
• Communicate shipment details and expectations, coordinate with operations, and help resolve issues.
• Maintain accurate records of carrier conversations, rates, bookings, and service performance.

What You Bring

• At least one year of carrier sales experience in freight brokerage or third-party logistics.
• Hands-on experience posting loads and sourcing capacity on DAT .
• Strong rate negotiation skills and the ability to close bookings.
• An understanding of different trailer types—including dry vans, reefers, and flatbeds—and their capabilities and limitations.
• Practical industry know-how: finding capacity in tight markets, evaluating rates, identifying potential issues, and keeping freight moving.
• The ability to turn carrier relationships into repeat business on consistent lanes.
• Strong communication, organization, and follow-through.
• Self-motivation and the ability to manage your workload in a fully remote environment.
• Sound judgment when qualifying carriers and following carrier verification procedures.
